Plas Llanstephan

Llanstephan castle

Plas Llanstephan was probably built by the Lloyd family around 1560 and remained in this family until 1767, when the Mears family from Eastington, Pembrokeshire aquired it.  The original mansion was pulled down by the Mears family around 1785-90 and rebuilt further up the incline. It was also leased by Sir James John Hamilton, and later by Sir John Williams.
