Eglwys Fair-A-Churig Parish Church : Return to menu
When We first started collecting Carmarthenshire Parish Church Photographs in 1994, it was our intention to photograph all Carmarthenshire Parish Churches which still existed, we have at last accomplished this, it was though that This Church 'Eglwys Fair-A-Churig' was one of the many lost churches of Carmarthenshire, until, Catherine Davies, contacted Carmarthenshire FHS and asked if we new anything of the Parish Church, Catherine and her husband had just bought a farm and the ruins of the Church came with it. Unfortunately there is not much information surrounding this church or its parish, parish registers have been lost and those which are left are as follows:
Registers Carmarthen Record Office : Baptisms 1813-present : Marriages 1813-1941 : Burials 1813-present
Bishops Transcripts : NLW : (see Henllan Amgoed with Eglwys-Fair-A-Churig) (GS 105144) 1671-73; 1675-76; 1678-85; 1687-88; 1693; 1695; 1697-99; 1702-04; 1708-09; 1713-14; 1716-18; 1720-22; 1724-30; 1732-59; 1762-63; 1768-70; 1772-77; 1780-1800; 1802-16; 1818-21; 1824-25; 1827-33; 1835-39; 1846-47; 1849; 1855; 1864; 1866-67 (additional entries for Llanfallteg, 1733-34) I cannot verify which or if any do relate to Eglwys Fair-A-Churig, I would be grateful if anyone can throw any light on this parish church or the parish of 'Eglwys Fair-A-Churig' and any good photographs of the church before it became a ruin, would be a bonus.
